what most couples are actually worried about

Nobody books a photographer because they want photographs. They book one because they’re worried about the day.

Not about whether the pictures will be pretty — every portfolio looks good online. What couples actually tell us they’re afraid of is spending their own wedding posing instead of living it. Of a stranger who doesn’t know which grandmother has to be in that photo. Of something being missed while the getting-ready room, the ceremony, and the cocktail hour are all happening at once, in three different places.

That last fear is the reason we’ve never worked as one person with a camera.

why we still do this after 25 years

Every wedding, we’re working for someone we’ll never meet: you in thirty years, and the people who’ll inherit these files after that.

That’s the test. Not whether an image looks good next week, but whether your daughter finds something in it that she recognizes. It changes what we shoot — fewer arrangements, more of what was actually happening — and it’s why we still care about a frame nobody asked for.

what we hold ourselves to

Four things we promise

We tell you when you need a second photographer

If your getting-ready rooms are half an hour apart, or the ceremony runs straight into cocktail hour, one camera cannot be in both places. We will say so while you are still choosing a collection — not on the day, when it is too late to fix. Collections with a second photographer exist for exactly those timelines.

Your family, in your language

We work in Spanish and English. Nobody should need a translator to be told where to stand in their own child’s wedding photos.

Direct when it helps, invisible when it doesn’t

You’ll be guided when guidance makes the picture better, and left alone when it wouldn’t.

One team for photo and film

The stills and the footage come from the same crew, the same day, graded to look like they belong to each other.

the person behind it

Jose Serrano

Jose started as a photographer’s assistant in 1997, trained formally in 2001, and has worked with studios across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Florida. He founded JS Visions in Garden City to combine documentary storytelling with editorial portraiture.

He’s also a father of four, including a son serving in the United States Marine Corps. Which is worth mentioning only because it explains the rest of this page: he knows what these pictures are worth to a family, because he’s on the other side of that too.
